YOUR TRAIL

  • Delphine, you have a remarkable career path! You first worked for 20 years in the fashion world, before starting your own business! Tell us a little about your career.

I started at Agnès b., I was in charge of the development of the brand in Asia, it was great! Then I held different positions, trying to discover new fields and to confront myself with different corporate cultures. I didn't see time passing and my life changed the year I turned 40! The famous milestone!

  • What made you want to get into the food business? Did you ever think of starting a fashion business?

In fact, I have always preferred the world of cooking to that of rags, but in France, when your CV is connoted in one sector, it is complicated to get out. I had to wipe the slate clean to get going again, when I realized that my pleasure in fashion had dried up and that I had to assume it and change direction to find the desire to get up in the morning!

THE CREATION OF MAISON PLISSON

  • How would you define Maison Plisson?

Maison Plisson is a place of life dedicated to common sense and pleasure in everyday food: respect of seasons, producers, refusal of industrial components etc.

  • What do you want to convey through Maison Plisson?

La Maison Plisson allows everyone to take care of their health and pleasure so that those who wish to do so can make their diet a priority in their lives

  • Did your initial idea evolve over time, as you met new people?

Not really: I had a very precise idea, motivated by many readings. Only the seasons have an impact on our offer!

  • In your establishments, it really feels like home! How do you think about them? What are your decorating inspirations?

Precisely I think of them as houses, I don't ask for help from decorators, I follow my instinct, I tell myself that I shouldn't try to please but to be sincere, I put on the music that I like etc... After all you come to lunch at my place!

  • How do you choose the artisans and producers you work with?

The 650 producers, winegrowers, market gardeners, breeders etc. who work with us are all craftsmen who choose to respect their know-how, the land, the seasons etc. They are above all people who are very concerned about our future and our pleasure, and we are very proud to work with them.

  • What are the main values of La Maison Plisson?

Transparency, so rare in food, and of course respect for the product and for people. Well, pleasure is still an important dimension for us!

  • Your places generate experiences and stimulate our senses, how do you convey all this in your digital strategy?

We have always communicated a lot via social networks and we make videos of the producers to give them a voice on our website which also hosts the online store. So everyone can know where the products are made and above all, how!

  • What advice would you give as an entrepreneur?

Don't waste your energy on whining (there are a lot of problems, days without, depressing people to talk to. Everything is forgotten) and surround yourself with positive and nice people! Good, and above all: work!

  • How do you organise your life as an entrepreneur and mother?

Like everyone else: one day at a time. We have 5 children at home, from 21 to 3 years old. They each have their own rhythm, their own needs and we manage to find a form of harmony in this huge mess! I have no partition between my personal and professional life, I spend a lot of time on my phone but I have a secret weapon: I refuse to feel guilty. It eats up my liver and is useless. I do my best and I move forward!

YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD

  • For you, what is eating well?

Cooking, raw products in season that I know where they come from. I never eat industrial food, never out of season. For me, eating well is the beginning of happiness, it is an important source of pleasure in my life and it is my first medication!

  • In what way is eating well representative of French culture?

Our country is rich in so many different terroirs and so many different skills that this culture has become part of our lives and now attracts gourmets from all over the world who envy us our cheeses, our wines, etc.

  • The products that will always be found in your fridge?

Of course champagne, we always have something to celebrate or to forget! Cheese, my favorite (not too much in the fridge by the way ??), butter with a good home made bread not far away !

  • What is the most important product for you when entertaining friends?

Just give them a little attention so that they leave happy with their meal prepared for them!

  • The must-have cookbooks (besides yours 😉 )?

I have dozens of them, I pick and choose, I get bored, I discover... These days I love the book "Japanese cuisine ultra easy" which gives lots of great ideas! I love Ottolenghi and everything that gives me ideas for great dishes to share: I have a passion for stews!

YOU & D+ FOR CARE

  • What does D+ For Care evoke for you? What is your relationship with food supplements?

I love it! I've always taken them, varying according to the season: magnesium, spirulina, msm and vitamin E but also borage and evening primrose oils! I'm going to be 50 any minute now, I'm pushing more on collagen and omegas but also on biotin so that my hair and nails don't get discouraged along the way! I prepare well on my skin before the vacations in the sun and sometimes even in winter being very pale by nature...

  • Between us ... Do you recommend D+ for care to your girlfriends or is it your best kept beauty secret?

Good plans are better when they are shared!

  • What is your mantra? The one to stay motivated no matter what happens in your entrepreneurial life:

"Everthing is going to be ok in the end. If it's not ok, it's not the end!"

  • What makes you feel beautiful?

Balance, joie de vivre, a glass of red shared with my lover

  • In which category of D+ for care women do you recognize yourself?

The natural and life-centric woman: taking care of myself starting from the inside, the best of nature to get the best of me. IT'S ME!
