L'icône du mois : Jessica Troisfontaine, fondatrice de la marque de prêt à porter Septem
Victoria Leriche
25/01/2022

Our icon of the month for September: Jessica Troisfontaine, founder of the essential brand Septem.

A former business lawyer, Jessica decided to "take power" over what she loved and create her brand, Septem. "A huge thirst for independence and a non-negotiable desire to do things my way" gave her the strength to create this magnificent brand with its must-have combinations.

Like the Septem woman - bold, feminine, and elegant - Jessica shares all her secrets with you. Discover her interview in which she reveals her best tips and advice while telling us a little more about her brand.

Can you describe your background to us?

After studying law in Brussels, Paris and New York, I worked for two years as a business lawyer in an Anglo-Saxon firm... The time to realize that I was absolutely not fulfilled in this daily life. I then resigned and created Septem , a ready-to-wear brand specializing in jumpsuits and an inspirational media to help women “take power” over their lives, whatever that means for each of them.

What made you want to get into entrepreneurship?
An immense thirst for independence and a non-negotiable desire to do things my way.

How would you define the spirit of the Septem woman?

Bold, feminine, as elegant in her attitude as in her way of being, greedy for life and good things.

Why the combination?

I started from the observation of the incredibly positive impact that a garment can have on the way we feel, our emotions, our actions, throughout a day. And among all the clothes, the jumpsuit is unbeatable for transmitting strength and self-confidence. It is the quintessence of the half-cocoon, half-armor garment.

Where do you find your inspiration for your creations?

I don't watch the fashion shows and avoid deciphering trends. I want to offer timeless, timeless models that will remain desirable and impeccable throughout the seasons. I am inspired by photos of girls from the 60s and 70s, whose silhouettes are infinitely chic and hyper sexy at the same time.

Your little word to future entrepreneurs?

Ideas that are not put into practice are either idealized or regretted. There is no risk in getting started, except that of learning.

What advice would you give to women who want to “take back control” of their lives?

Be kind to yourself and inspire yourself. The solution is always within yourself, but you have to accept help from others... Friends, family, or complete strangers who can provide invaluable support with a few words spoken in a podcast or written in a book.

Can you tell us about the Septem Club ?

The Septem Club covers the inspirational media related to Septem. It is the name of the podcast in which I interview inspiring women from all walks of life (philosophers, journalists, entrepreneurs, authors, etc.) but also, for example, that of the evenings (which we will resume as soon as we can) during which women with incredible journeys come to tell their stories during a conference followed by a cocktail.

What are your wellness tips as an entrepreneur?

Since no two days are the same, I have established a morning ritual that reassures me and does me a lot of good. In practice: I do a 10-minute breathing exercise (I'm a fan of Wim Hof), I do some sport (it can be just 15 minutes of yoga or 1 hour of cardio) and I take the time to prepare a competitive breakfast (I love it). By getting up at 6:45, it gives me more than 2 hours of fun before getting out my to-do list. It changes everything.

How do you cut out work?

In the evening, I try to look at my phone as little as possible and notifications are turned off. It's rare that an email can't wait until the next morning and it's stressful for everyone to receive one at 11pm :)

What does D+ for care mean to you? What is your relationship with food supplements?

A very beautiful young brand, built with passion and intelligent thought. Before meeting Claire to interview her in my podcast, I had almost never taken one in my life. I have very basic knowledge about everything related to the field of beauty and I am so happy to educate myself on the subject thanks to girls who carry such cool projects.

Between us… Do you recommend D+ for care to your girlfriends or is it your best kept beauty secret?

That's what a good bottle of wine and a beauty secret have in common: they're meant to be shared!

What’s your best-kept beauty tip?
Love.

What is your mantra for this new school year? The one to stay motivated no matter what happens in your life as an entrepreneur?

Every day, putting problems into perspective and enjoying what I do.

The iconic piece that you will keep for life?

My man!

What makes you feel beautiful?

Feeling proud of myself.

Which category of D+ for care women do you identify with?

  • The natural and life-centric woman: taking care of myself starting from the inside, the best of nature to have the best of me.
  • The woman on the go: the gesture is effective, the stick can be taken anywhere.
  • The “Freedom Freak”: mixing freedom, festivities, nonchalance
  • The cheeky one: compensating for my busy schedule for a clear conscience and beautiful skin.
Between the woman on the go and the freedom freak ;)

And finally… “Less is more” or “More the better”?

Both! I am attracted to refined aesthetics (less) but I am constantly looking for the intensity of life (more).
